The Easy Way to Publishing Information Products
You visited a few times and I would appreciate your thoughts on this post, why not comment?
Information products make a big part of Internet Marketing; weight loss e-books, forex trader software, online courses and so on sell millions of copies every year. Coming up with your own information product to sell online is not as hard as you might think.
Me friend Annie has a little kids who likes coloring. Annie knows that I spent most of my day online so she asked if I could find some coloring templates that could be printed since she couldn’t find much. I started Googling all the possible keywords and was surprised to not find much either, however I found one huge pack on e-Bay. For $5 I purchased about 300 image templates that the kid could color… but there was another thing - the package came with resale rights. Annie was very thankful and her kid was happy with all the cars, animals and dinosaurs she had to color!
Few months went by and I stumbled upon that package in one of the folders on my computer. Out of curiosity I went to Adwords Keyword tool and did a few searches to find out there were more than enough searches for such product! I purchased a keyword optimized domain name and made a short sales page using free website builder Weebly.com. There was a simple promotion using social bookmarking sites, a Squidoo lens, few articles and it took off! I am not making a killing but 5-10 sales every week at 15$ per sale is good enough in this case. I am sure I could make much more money with this but I have many more important and time consuming projects… eBay offers hundreds of info products dirt cheap, just repackage them, purchase a domain name and suddenly you are an information product publisher! Pretty easy, isn’t it?
I’d like to give you another example.
At some point I stumbled across a few blogs where people were talking about baking bread at home. Once again, there weren’t any info products available online so I decided to create one just for the heck of it. The big issue was that I did not know ANYTHING about baking bread. After five or six hours spent browsing forums, blogs, yahoo answers I was able to come up with a list of most frequently asked questions on the subject. Once I had the list I went to visit a small local bakery shop, the baker also happened to be the owner. I told him there were many people online interested in baking bread at home but they had a few questions and concerns and It would be awesome if he could help me out with it, I even offered to pay him for his time, but he refused the money! So I turned on my digital voice recorder, read the list of questions and got all the answers… Now I had a $27 AUDIO info product… but that’s not all.
Three weeks later the baker called me and asked if I could film him baking bread; from mixing flour with water all the way to tasting the baked bread. I was hyped and of course agreed. I came to the bakery with my $300 camcorder and a $20 tripod I purchased at a second hand store that’s how I became a film producer… Okay I didn’t become a producer but I made this video and was able to sell it on the back-end of the audio product for an additional $17. Guess how many people also bought the video? Almost all. The only condition was I had to add the credits at the end of the video, baker’s shop name and address - this wasn’t a problem for me!
As you can see, these two ways of coming up with info products are very cheap if not free, not time consuming and very effective. Nothing is stopping you now from becoming an info product publisher! Comments are greatly appreciated and don’t forget to subscribe to the feed for more tips and tricks!

Make Money Online 4 Idiots on January 18, 2009 at 6:28 am
Hey Alex,
I love how you manage to convert your offline ideas into online and make money
Sometimes I think to take all these online products to offline, and see if it works.
Might try one day…

Hey Alex-
Another great post and you are definitely not wasting your time
I’d love to hear more about re-selling publishing information products.
I know of master-resale-rights.com for finding ebooks/products to sell but what other resources can you recommend?
Thanks!

Hey, great content!
So taking your video of the baker as an example, once you have the content, what advice can you offer for both promoting and selling that content? To me, that is the more important question.
Again, many thanks.
