How To Keep Your Squidoo Lens Ranking High in Google
Hello, marketers!
It’s not a secret that Google likes Squidoo.com and tends to rank it high in its search results. However many people are faced with the issue of their Squidoo lens ranking high at first and then going down to second page, third page and all the way to the last page of Google search results. There is a remedy to it.
I created a lens about a year ago and I wrote an article on EzineArticles pointing to this lens. The lens got in the top 5 results in a month or so and stayed there for a while getting over 100 daily uniques from Google. Recently the lens dropped to #7 in Google and I got 173 hits from Google in 24 hours.
Yesterday I decided to update the lens to see if this will help to bring it back in the top 5. I added one single text module with 1 paragraph of text, then I used Pingoat.com to ping the lens… and today at noon I have noticed the traffic from Google increased:

Almost 100 hits more from Google and it’s only noon! After doing a Google search for the main keyword phrase, I found this lens ranking as #3 and not #7 which proves that Google LOVES updates, especially when they consist of new, unique content! I am sure this applies to all websites, blogs, hubs and lenses! So don’t forget to constantly update for your own sake!
P.S. for those who want to know the results of the traffic – 3 recurring sales and 30 opt-ins to my list so far from this one lens for today.

Great info Alex. I think Google has proven for years now that what they care about most is providing relevant content for the users that search so they get what they want. Marketers can learn a great lesson from this – build it and they will come NEVER worked but build it, promote it slightly and dont update is the key to your once killer targeted traffic dying a slow withering death.
Good work

Nice work mate. I love these little tests.
We do this with our niche sites – every now and then we add another page and let google know about it. It seems to work well.
We have lots of lenses that have been left dormant for a long time – Maybe it’s time to revisit them:)
Another test could be to link to it from a couple of social bookmarking sites for added link love. One or two at a time and see if you can boost it up another position or two.
Either way – great results.
Cheers

Good job! 30 optins from free traffic is great and its recurring traffic too! Hopeully your site stays there. If not, just update again. Nice blog BTW.
Beautiful post my friend.
Google does love updates. I found this out after I had 5 lenses debut on the first page of Google and then disappear.
Thanks for the great post and keep it going!
Thanks for the Squidoo reminder. I have put it on the back burner for too long.
Nice post Alex but don’t you feel that Google has been showing more love to Hubpages than Squidoo lately.
By the way, I love your new design.

That was a lovely post. Thank You!
Very good article, very informative. Keep up the great work.
What I would like to know is how do you get thousands to your site daily not just hundreds..
Thanks for posting. I’m goin gto put both the ezine article idea and the new content idea into action. I wonder how much new content is required to make a difference though…
I am experiencing the same thing. I dropped a serp and traffic is less now.
After reading this, I’m going to add a text capsule right away.
Thanks for sharing this my friend.
Hey, Jay!
Actually I am using Squidoo less and less. Google seems to not like them once again, hence not ranking the lenses very well. I am sicking to my own websites.
