Jules Schroeder started her first 6-figure business at 18. At 22 she launched a 7-figure business.Life seemed great.
A few short years later a business partnered embezzle the company and left Jules in a huge debt. Shortly after Jules had a near-death experience after a wake-boarding accident. Although very unfortunate, this experienced turned Jules’ life around.
Just 3 weeks after the accident, with a neck-brace still on she went to become a consultant for UN. She then got contacted by Forbes and was offered to become a contributor for them. Jules liked the idea but she mentioned that she had a vision for a podcast and Forbes gave her the green light. Jules only had a few weeks to figure out how to start a podcast but she succeeded and the Unconventional Life podcast was launched.
The concept for the podcast was rather simple. Interviewing young entrepreneurs who made a decision to lead unconventional lives by building non-traditional businesses. In Jules’ words “there are a million and one ways to make money”.
Unconventional Life was not meant to be a business but a passion project. However this passion quickly turned into a 6-figure income stream. Jules believes that you need to be passionate about what you do. She decided to organize a trip for inspiring people, a 5 day international business accelerator with a community that decided to say NO to a 9 to 5. The first event was sold out within weeks. This was a success. The second event was announced and over 300 people applied (only 50 spots were available).
Some people say that you need to stop everything you’re doing and jump into your business full time. Others say that you need to start slow and build your business part-time while still working a job. Jules believes that you should go all-in BUT you need to be smart about it and make sure you have a cushion to fall back on. How much do you need to save in order to be able to burn all bridges and dive into your new business full time? The answer is in the podcast.
Jules explains that we keep hearing about all of these successful millennials who are leading inspiring and non-traditional lives simply because this concept is being shared more often. With time, such unconventional lifestyle will become the norm. For now we can (and should) promote this culture and share these stories.
In this interview we’re also talking about the importance of being more personal and more open online, about taking baby steps and much much much more.
One of my favorite parts of this interview? Jules explains rapid visioning process helped her create a $80,000 revenue stream in just 3 days and you won’t believe how simple that was. Want to know the details?
